Hey guys and welcome to Day 1 of the Summer 2018 Biannual Bibliothon!

So I challenged you guys last week to tell me your top 3 favorite vacations spots (real or fictional). I have loved reading through your responses and I figured I would tell you mine!

  1. Fripp Island, South Carolina

The last of 5 barrier islands off the coast of Beaufort, South Carolina lies Fripp Island. I have been coming here pretty much since the day I was born. My grandparents lived on this island from 1996 to when they died in 2004 and 2016. It is part resort island and part golf course. Perfect for vacationers and golf fans alike. The sunsets are to die for. Also, scenes in the movie Forest Gump were filmed here.

  1. York Beach, Maine

Only about an hour drive from downtown Boston lies York Beach. I used to spend a week here each year with my grandparents when I was in elementary school and some of my best memories come from that time. The beaches give visitors one hell of sight upon bright blue water. In the very distance you can see the Isle of Man (located in between England and Ireland). Also downtown York has some great shopping centers and Goldenrod Candy (my favorite candy store) has the best salt water taffy you will ever try.

3. Salem, Massachusetts

MIP AERIAL LONG POINT SALEM MA-3367-L

Now, you are probably wondering why I put the town of Salem on this list. I know, I know. This town is usually known for being a popular tourist destination in the fall but believe me, it is a town that  you can visit any time of year. Only located about 45 minutes from Boston, Salem is more known for the witch trials that happened in the 1600s. It’s beautiful architecture is located right next to the harbor. Salem has many great shops (including a ton dedicated to all things Harry Potter and even a wand shope!) along with restaurants with menus of the best seafood New England has to offer. A must visit town!

So that is my post for today! I’ll be back tommorow with day 2 of the read-a-thon!
