“Most know Androma Racella as the Bloody Baroness, a powerful mercenary whose reign of terror stretches across the Mirabel Galaxy. To those aboard her glass starship, Marauder, however, she’s just Andi, their friend and fearless leader.

But when a routine mission goes awry, the Marauder‘s all-girl crew is tested as they find themselves in a treacherous situation and at the mercy of a sadistic bounty hunter from Andi’s past.

Meanwhile, across the galaxy, a ruthless ruler waits in the shadows of the planet Xen Ptera, biding her time to exact revenge for the destruction of her people. The pieces of her deadly plan are about to fall into place, unleashing a plot that will tear Mirabel in two.

Andi and her crew embark on a dangerous, soul-testing journey that could restore order to their shipor just as easily start a war that will devour worlds. As the Marauder hurtles toward the unknown, and Mirabel hangs in the balance, the only certainty is that in a galaxy run on lies and illusion, no one can be trusted.”

* I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Edelweiss. It comes out on January 16th, 2018. All opinions stated are my own.*

This was my most anticipated release of 2018 and I was practically screaming when the publisher accepted my request for an ARC on Edelweiss. I had my fingers crossed the entire time I was reading it that it would not disappoint me.

I’m so glad to say that it lived up to all of my expectations.

I really liked our main group of characters. Andy reminded me a lot of Celaena from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. She was this kick-ass character who really didn’t care what other people said about her. Then, on top of that, she had a great group of gals supporting her on her missions around the galaxy. Breck, Lira, and Gilly were always there by Andy’s side whenever they needed to be. Seems like a great group book of friends to have!

As far as the romance, I’m glad that there hasn’t really one in this book. Yes, we can see the affection that Dex has for Andy being shown throughout the entire book trying to win her back but it wasn’t front and center. It was kind of pushed off to the side for the most part. I think that it will come more into play in the second book in this duology but for now, I was happy with the way it was in this book.

The plot of this book I think the strongest part of the entire thing. It was gripping and entertaining. It kept me on the edge of my seat. It was everything that I want in a good sci-fi novel.

Overall, I thought this book was fantastic. Was it the most original idea? NO but I think the authors were able to pull the story off without making it like a direct copy of something we have seen in the past. I think that if you are a fan of Star Wars or Guardians of the Galaxy then you would really like this book! Be sure to pick it up when it hits selves this January!
