Hey everyone! This past weekend I went to my very first book signing and I thought it would be really fun to talk about here on the blog. I posted a video yesterday on my YouTube channel so I’ll link that at the end of this post.
Like I said, this book signing took place this past Saturday, October 8th. I must say it was one heck of an experience.
So Joey Graceffa, who is one of my favorite YouTubers of all time, recently came out with his new book, Children of Eden, a Young Adult dystopian novel. A few weeks ago, he announced that he would be going on tour around the country to promote the book and fans would have the opportunity to meet him at the different stops.
So the minute he announced it, I immediately went to his website to see if he would be coming to any cities near me. I live about an hour north of Boston so when I saw that there was a date for Brookline, Massachusetts, which is a suburb of Boston, I knew I had to go.
I asked my parents that they said yes and I was so excited! Event though I had to wait a few weeks until the day actually came, it took me a while to process it in my head.
So the day came around and I spent the entire day getting ready. The meet and greet started around 5:00 (Eastern Standard Time) so we left around 4. There wasn’t a ton of traffic on the way into Boston, but when we got on the bridge that connects Sommervile and Boston, that’s where hit the major traffic.
By the time we got out of the traffic and into Brookline, it was already past 5 so we thought we were late. However, it turns out, Joey was also late because his plane was delayed so luckily we really didn’t miss anything.
So when we arrived, there must have about 1 to 2 thousand people. I had never seen so many people at one place for something like this before. But, understandably, this was Joey’s hometown so that probably explains it.
The line wrapped around the store three times and me and my mom were at the very back of it. As we were walking around the building, we started hearing some girls screaming in excitement. I later found out that I had been Joey’s boyfriend Daniel that came out and said hi to some of the fans.
We waited in line for about 2 hours. I made a friend and we pretty much talked about just random stuff the entire wait. By the time we got up front, we were almost in tears. We made our way into the store and went around back and back up to the front where we would have our picture taken with Joey.
When it was my turn to get my picture taken, I was so nervous. As I was walking up, I was shaking with excitement. When I got up I said hi to Joey and he gave me a hug and then our picture was taken. It was only a few seconds but it was something I will never forget.
Here is the picture of me and Joey:
Afterwords, I got my signed copy of the book. It is sitting on my bookshelf right now and I pretty much look at it everyday and remind myself of that amazing experience.
Here is what the book looks like:
And that was my experience. Like I said, I really enjoyed meeting Joey and I would do it all again if I could. If you are a fan and he is coming to a city near you, I highly recommend that you go. It is something that you will never forget. I’m planning on reading both of his books (his memoir In Real Life: My Journey Into A Pixelated World came out last year) sometime this month and I’m sure that I will enjoy both of them.
As always, I will have reviews for both books up here on the blog as well as on my channel when I’m done reading them.
