“MEET CELAENA SARDOTHIAN.
DESTINED FOR GREATNESS.
In the dark, filthy salt mines of Endovier, an eighteen year old girl is serving a life sentence. She is a trained assassin, the best of her kind, but she made a fatal mistake. She got caught.
Young Captain Westfall offers her a deal: her freedom in return for one huge sacrifice. Celaena must represent the prince in a to-the-death tournament- fighting the most gifted thieves and assassins in the land. Live or die, Celaena will be free. Win or lose, she is about to discover her true destiny. But will her assassin’s heart be melted?”
I truly enjoyed this book. I thought it was fantastic.
On the booktube part of the YouTube community, there had been a lot of hype going around about this book. Pretty much everyone that had read it had really enjoyed. It made me curious if I would feel the same way.
Man, they were right.
It was a fantastic book. I think the author did an amazing job capturing elements of the story that kept me on the edge of my seat and also kept me guessing on what was going to happen next, and that is one thing that I love in books like this.
I think Celaena was a great lead character. With her being an assassin, it was something that I had never read about in any sort of book. I can relate a lot to her story myself. One thing that I would love to know is a little more about her life before she became an assassin. What was she like growing up? I also would love to know how she ended up in Endovier. But, that being said, I really enjoyed her throughout the entire book and I can’t wait to see how she develops as a character in the future books.
I think the romance between Celaena and Dorian was a great one. One of the best I have ever read as a matter of fact. I think it was a great choice that the author made to make both of the characters fall in love with each over the course of the book and not immediately. I really enjoy when authors or just writers in general do that. I can’t wait to see what happens between these two in the future books as well.
The tournament to become the king’s main assassin was interesting to read about. I think the aspects of the different tasks definitely played a big role in the story. To see Celaena train for them all was really interesting.I think that she did a great job in the tournament considering she made it all the way to the end. I also think that the way that they were getting rid of the other champions as the tournament went along was great. When some of them died, it kept me guessing the entire time to find out who really was the killer. In the end, I was and wasn’t surprised to find out that Cain was the killer but it was a great time trying to guess who it would be.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I highly recommend it to any one who enjoys fantasy. It really did live up to the hype that surrounds it for me and I can’t wait to see what happens in the other books in the series.
