“The war against Voldemort is not going well; even Muggle governments are noticing. Ron scans the obituary pages of the Daily Prophet, looking for familiar names. Dumbledore is absent from Hogwarts for long stretches of tome, and the Order of the Phoenix has already suffered losses.
And yet . . .
As in all wars, life goes on. The Weasley twins expand their business. Sixth-year students learn to Apparate- and lose a few eyebrows in the process. Teenagers flirt and fight and fall in love. Classes are never straightforward, though Harry receives some extrodinary help from the mysterious Half-Blood Prince.
So it’s the home front that takes center stage in the multilayered sixth installment of the story of Harry Potter. Here at Hogwarts, Harry will search for the full and complex story of the boy who became Lord Voldemort- and thereby find what may be his only vulnerability.”
My favorite book in this amazing series!
This book is just plain amazing. I loved every little thing about it.
I loved how we got to learn more about Voldemort’s backstory. What he was like growing up as an orphan, and what his was like at Hogwarts. Just having those little details included in the story made the story a whole lot better and more enjoyable everytime I have reread the series.
I also absolutely loved how we got to see a whole ton of Draco in this book. His character development throughout the series is not very prominent but in this book we really get to see develop. With him having to go through with becoming a Death Eater and then being sent on a mission to kill Dumbledore, I can’t even imagine the stress he must have gone through. Plus, with Draco being my favorite character in the series it just made it a whole lot better.
I think the ending of this book was written perfectly. Snape killing Dumbledore. Harry finding out that Snape is this “Half-Blood Prince” that has been helping him in Potions class. Just everything about it is just perfect.
Overall, I really enjoyed my experience rereading my favorite book in this amazing series. I believe that the movie adaptation is almost just as good as the book. I can’t believe I’m already on the last book before I get to The Cursed Child play script. Onto The Deathly Hallows!
