“For twelve long years, the dread fortress of Azkaban held an infamous prisoner named Sirius Black. Convicted of killing thirteen people with a single curse, he was said to be the heir apparent to the Dark Lord, Voldemort.
Now he has escaped, leaving only two clues as to where he might be headed: Harry Potter’s defeat of You-Know-Who was Black’s downfall as well. And the Azkaban guards heard Black muttering in his sleep, “He’s at Hogwarts…he’s at Hogwarts.”
Harry Potter isn’t safe, not even within the walls of his magical school, surrounded by his friends. Because on top of it all, there may well be a traitor in their midst.”
This book is just as amazing as the first two books. The series just gets better and better within each book.
I remember the first time I attempted to read this series back when I was in the 6th grade, I picked up this book first not realizing it wasn’t the first book in the series, it was the third. Maybe that’s why I didn’t attempt to reread the series for another 5 years!
The characters in this book that we were introduced made me so happy. I loved the character of Professor Lupin. I would love to have a guy who is a werewolf as a teacher. I think is so cool!
Throughout the book, I didn’t really know how I felt about Sirius Black’s character. At first, I strongly disliked him for the crime that he (supposedly) committed. But at the end of the book, I ended up liking him as character after finding out that he isn’t this evil murderer that we are lead to believe he is.
There were so many scenes that enjoyed playing out in my head. One of my favorites by far was when Harry got to ride on Buckbeak, the hippogriff. Just picturing it in my mind really made it stand out. Another one of my favorite scenes is when the students are in the Defense Against The Dark Arts class and Professor Lupin is teaching them about boggarts. Some of the things that the student made them turn into made me laugh. The scene between Lupin, Black, Wormtail, Harry, Hermione, and Snape was really interesting. Getting to know the background of the makers of the Marauder’s Map. Finally, I really enjoyed one of the final scenes in the book with Harry, Hermione, and the Dementors. Just getting to see Harry cast a patronus was so cool.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book again. It amazes me every time I read it. I can’t believe that The Cursed Child comes out in a little over a week!! Onto The Goblet of Fire!!
