”When Percy Jackson receives an urgent distress call from his friend Grover, he immediately prepares for battle. He knows he’ll need his powerful demigod allies at his side; his trusty bronze sword, Riptide; and . . . a ride from his mom.
The demigods race to the rescue to find that Grover has made an important discovery: two powerful half-bloods, whose parentage is unknown. But that’s not all that awaits them. The Titan Lord Kronos has set up a devious trap, and the young heroes have just fallen prey.
Hilarious and action packed, this third adventure in the series finds Percy faced with his most dangerous challenge yet- the chilling prophecy of the Titan’s curse.”
Once again, Rick Riordan did not disappoint with this installment in the series. I loved this third book just as much as I loved the first two books.
I love how when we are introduced to the characters of Bianca and Nico at the beginning of the book, we know that they are demigods but we do not know how their parents are. This aspect of the story kept me on the edge of my seat and made me keep guess which god they are the children of. I was so sad when Bianca died trying to save her friends half way through the book. I felt bad for Nico knowing that Percy had promised to keep her safe, At the end of the book, I was in shock to find out that they are the children of Hades. I would never have guessed that throughout the entire book. Overall, I really liked these two characters and I hope to see Nico again in the future books.
At first, I really was not a fan of the goddess Artemis and her hunters. I kind of thought they were a little annoying. However, after Artemis goes on her hunt to find the manticore that has taken Annabeth, I liked how much of a role the huntress Zoe Nightsade played throughout the part of story where they are trying to find Artemis and Annabeth. When Zoe died towards the end of the book, I was actually sad to see her die. I was just starting to enjoy her character.
I also really enjoyed the character of Thalia, the daughter of Zeus. I think she was my favorite character throughout the entire book. I think that is because she reminds me a lot of myself in certain ways. I was surprised when she joined the hunters in the end but I can totally see why she did it.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. This is by far my favorite book of the series so far. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book: The Battle of the Labyrinth!!
